Blades roster finalized for opening weekend

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush, along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced today the roster for opening weekend of the 2010-11 season.

The Everblades will open their 13th season of play in the ECHL with 20 active players, consisting of 11 Forwards, 8 defensemen & one goalie, and three players on the injured reserve. The active forwards are Kevin Deeth, Mitch Fadden, Shea Guthrie, Alex Imbeault, Mike Kennedy, Francis Lemieux, Mike McKenzie, Cedric McNicoll, Vladimir Nikiforov, Matt Pistilli and Evgeny Timkin.

Defensively the Everblades will go with Mike Egener, David Fischer, Trevor Hendrikx, Kyle Lawson, Mitch McColm, Phil Paquet, Bobby Raymond and Elgin Reid to open the season, while the lone goaltender on the roster to start the year is Bobby Goepfert.

Three forwards will begin the season on the injured reserve with Mathieu Roy opening the season on the 3-day IR, Matt Beca on the 7-day IR and Ross Carlson on the 21-day IR.

In addition, for this weekend the Everblades added goaltender Brian Markowicz to the roster as an emergency backup.

Captains Chosen:

The Everblades also announced today that the team voted and selected their captains for the 2010-11 season. Veteran defenseman Mike Egener, who is entering his sixth professional season, was voted as the team's captain, while returning defenseman Elgin Reid and newcomer Francis Lemieux were voted as the alternate captains.
