
Blades Outlast Chiefs to End off U.S. Road Trip

PEACE OUT, U.S.A: The Saskatoon Blades ended their U.S. Division road trip with a 2-0 win Wednesday against the Spokane Chiefs at Veterans Memorial Arena.
Import defenceman Samuel Barcik picked up his first career WHL goal in the first period for Saskatoon, standing as the game-winner. The Zvolen, SVK product leads the Blades in rookie scoring with six points (1G, 5A) in 24 games this season.
Rookie netminder Evan Gardner earned his second career WHL shutout stopping 30 shots. The Lake Country, BC native boasts a 6-4-0-0 record, with a .928 save-percentage and 2.04 goals-against-average.
The Blades extend their lead on first place in the Eastern Conference with 37 points and a 18-7-1-0 record, three more than the second-place Medicine Hat Tigers.
NEXT GAME: The Blades conclude their season-long seven-game road trip Friday in Lethbridge against the Hurricanes.
