The Saskatoon Blades won their 4th straight game on home ice Tuesday night with a 4-3 victory over the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds at SaskTel Centre. The Blades are now at 26-12-5-0 on the season, currently sitting 3rd overall in the WHL.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Seattle got on the board first through former Blade Zach Ashton (1) who scored his first career goal in his 3rd game with his new club. Kyle Crnkovic (4) answered back for the Blades with a breakaway deke on a delayed Seattle penalty to beat Cole Schwebius. Crnkovic then set up Josh Paterson (14) on Saskatoon's first power play opportunity; Emil Malysjev had the secondary assist. Seattle would tie the game at 2-2 before the first intermission.

4:36 into the second period, Seattle took their second lead of the game thanks to Matthew Wedman's 13th of the season. Later in the frame, Chase Wouters (8) tipped in a one-time shot from Max Gerlach, who was set up by Dawson Davidson. Then Aidan De La Gorgendiere jumped up in the play through the neutral zone on the left wing and fed a streaking Eric Florchuk (11) in the slot who took the pass on his backhand and then deked forehand to open up Schwebius and slide it 5-hole. The goal would hold up as the game winner.

Dorrin Luding made 33 saves in goal to earn 2nd star honours and the victory against his former club. Saskatoon finished 1/3 on the power play and denied the T-Birds on both of their man advantages opportunities.

NOTEWORTHY NUMBERS

Braden Plaschewsky made his WHL debut on Tuesday night and went 7/7 in the face-off circle.

Chase Wouters' game tying goal gives the captain 7 points in his last 6 games.

Max Gerlach extended his point streak to 9 games (7G-4A).

Kyle Crnkovic had his 1st career multi-point game (1G-2A).

UNSUNG HERO

Tristen Robins was a +1, had 4 shots on goal, and helped create offensive chances for his line mates Kyle Crnkovic and Eric Florchuk.
