Raiders Hold Firm, Silvertips Rise in Kia CHL Top 10 Rankings

Toronto, Ont. - The Canadian Hockey League today announced the week 16 edition of the Kia CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2018-19 season. The weekly rankings of the CHL's Top-10 teams are selected by a panel of National Hockey League scouts.

Holding onto the top spot once again were the Western Hockey League's Prince Albert Raiders, who sit atop the league with a 35-4-0-1 record. After a 4-2 loss to the Moose Jaw Warriors Friday, the Raiders righted the ship with a 5-2 win over the Saskatoon Blades. New Raiders forward Dante Hannoun picked up his first point, an assist, over the first two games with his new club after a January 3 trade brought the 20-year-old to northern Saskatchewan. Continuing a five-game home stand, the Raiders will play host to the Seattle Thunderbirds Wednesday, January 9 (7:00 p.m. CT) at the Art Hauser Centre. This week marked 14-straight weeks in the Kia CHL Top 10 Rankings for the Raiders.

Moving up a single spot this week were the Western Conference-leading Everett Silvertips, who saw their 16-game undefeated streak come to an end after a 3-2 loss to the Tri-City Americans. The loss was quickly forgotten though as they extended their home winning streak to 11 games with a 4-1 victory over the Americans and a 5-1 win over the Kamloops Blazers. The right combination of offence and defence has the Silvertips clicking at home, with six goals allowed over their past seven home games while they've filled their opponents net with 30 goals over that same seven-game span. The Silvertips are in action Wednesday, January 9 (7:05 p.m. PT), taking on the Kelowna Rockets at Prospera Place. This week marked seven-straight weeks in the Kia CHL Top 10 Rankings for the Silvertips.

Earning an honourable mention this week were the Moose Jaw Warriors, who doubled up the Raiders by a 4-2 score Friday before losing a 6-0 game to the Portland Winterhawks Saturday. The Warriors have had a player finish in the top five in league scoring for each of the past three seasons and overage forward Tristin Langan is looking to make it four in a row. His 66 points (30G-36A) in 36 games is good enough for a tie for third in league scoring. Langan is also continuing to produce an incredible 1.83 point-per-game pace, which would be more than triple his career-best output from last season.

Having missed just two regular season games since the start of the 2017-18 WHL Regular Season, not including playoffs, Langan will continue to be a driving force of the team's offence. The Warriors return to action Wednesday, January 9 (7:00 p.m. CT), playing host to the Calgary Hitmen.
