April 11, 2019 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
The Saskatoon Blades scored four unanswered goals to come back and defeat the Prince Albert Raiders by a score of 4-1 on Wednesday night, tying up the best-of-seven series at 2-2 in front of 7761 fans at SaskTel Centre. It was a full team effort once again led by the stellar goaltending of Nolan Maier.
Dante Hannoun (4) opened the scoring in the first period for the Raiders with a short-handed goal. The opening frame saw six minor penalties called between the two teams, but Nolan Maier kept the Blades in it with 21 saves through the first 20 minutes.
Max Gerlach (6) scored his first goal of the series 12:02 into the second period, on the power play from Ryan Hughes and Dawson Davidson. 1:11 later, Gerlach found a streaking Tristen Robins (2) who jumped in off the bench, and the rookie made no mistake for his second of the post-season, beating Ian Scott to the glove side.
Kyle Crnkovic (2) added insurance with 3:42 left in the third period. Then Eric Florchuk (2) sealed the victory with an empty netter with 2:07 left on the clock.
Dawson Davidson finished the night with three assists, bringing his playoff total to eight helpers. Max Gerlach had a goal and 2 assists, moving him into a tie for the league lead in playoff goals with six.
Nolan Maier stopped 43/44 shots faced, allowing just one goal to earn first star of the game and across the WHL for a second straight night. Ian Scott was busy at the other end for the Raiders making 35 saves.
The Blades converted on 1/5 power play, went 4/4 on the penalty kill, but did surrender one Prince Albert short-handed goal in the contest.
The series now heads back to Prince Albert for game five on Friday night at the Art Hauser Centre at 7:00pm. Game six is scheduled for 4:00pm on Sunday at SaskTel Centre. Tickets are on sale now at ticketmaster.ca and at the SaskTel Centre box office beginning Thursday morning at 10:00am.
