Blades Call Up Three Players

The Saskatoon Blades have called up forward Ryan Olsen (Delta, BC) and defensemen Darren Dietz (Medicine Hat, AB) and Zane Morin (Meadow Lake, SK) for the team's six-game road trip beginning Wednesday against Seattle.

Olsen, the Blades' 1st round pick (20th overall) in the past spring's WHL Bantam Draft, will join the Blades for the next week from the Greater Vancouver Canadians of the BC Major Midget League. The 6'0", 162-pound 15-year-old is third on the Canadians in scoring this season with 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points in 25 games played while adding 12 penalty minutes.

Dietz, listed by the Blades following training camp in the fall, is a member of the Lethbridge Y's Men's Titans of the Alberta Midget Hockey League. As of December 15th, the 6'1", 208-pound 16-year-old has 3 goals and 8 assists for 11 points in 21 games played to go along with 54 penalty minutes on the season.

Morin, the Blades' 8th round pick (159th overall) in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft, is currently playing for the Beardy's Blackhawks of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League. The 6'0", 166-pound 17-year-old has one goal and 13 assists for 14 points in 27 games played so far this season to go with 34 penalty minutes.

The Blades open their six-game road trip on Wednesday evening in Kent, Washington against the Seattle Thunderbirds. Game time is 9:05 pm (Saskatchewan time). On Thursday night, the team is in Everett to play the Silvertips. The road trip continues on the weekend with a matchup on Saturday against the Portland Winterhawks and Sunday against the Tri-City Americans. The final two games of the trip see the Bridge City Bunch in Spokane on Tuesday to take on the Chiefs and in Cranbrook, BC on Wednesday for a date with the Ice.
