Saskatoon Blades News Release

The Saskatoon Blades got back in the win column quickly with a 6-2 defeat of their East Division rivals, the Regina Pats.

The Blades got a much better effort tonight and opened the scoring when Milan Kytnar put home a bouncing puck to make it 1-0. Adam Chorneyko improved his point streak to 8 games when he finished off a feed from line mate Gaelan Patterson. Chorneyko has amassed 13 points over his 8 game streak. The Pats cut the lead to one when Matt Robertson beat Braden Holtby glove side. The Blades led 2-1 after twenty minutes of play.

The only goal in the second period came from rookie Josh Nicholls, his 8th of the season. Nicholls came in on a 2 on 1 with Charles Inglis and elected to shoot, beating Linden Rowat low glove side to give the Blades a 3-1 lead after 2 periods.

The Blades nicest goal of the night came from Kytnar in the third period when he went end to end and fired a shot that went off the crossbar and in. Pats sniper Jordan Eberle replied minutes later with one of the prettier goals seen in the Credit Union Centre this year. Eberle had the puck on a string as he danced his way into the slot and beat Holtby between the legs on a backhand shot. Teigan Zahn squashed any momentum the Eberle goal gave the Pats as he banged home a rebound to give the Blades a 4-2 lead and ending Linden Rowat's night between the pipes. Chris Langkow finished off the scoring on a perfectly executed 5 on 3 man advantage. Kytnar found Langkow all alone at the side of the net with a no-look, behind the back pass.

Kytnar`s 2 goal and 1 assist performance earned him the game`s first star.

The Blades now pack up and travel to Edmonton tomorrow to face the Oil Kings. The game can be seen on Rogers Sportsnet.
