Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that forward Brad Herauf has signed a contract for the 2007-08 season, becoming the fourth player to sign for the upcoming season.
Herauf's rights were acquired by the Everblades on June 14 from the Utah Grizzlies as future considerations to complete a trade made between the clubs last season. He comes to the Everblades after spending the past two seasons with the Grizzlies. Last year the 24-year-old picked up 25 points (11g, 14a) and amassed 212 penalty minutes in 50 games with Utah. In the 2005-06 season, his first with the Grizzlies, the Regina, Sask. native racked up a career-high 344 PIM while scoring 13 goals and adding 17 assists in 72 games.
"We are real excited to have Brad signed on for next year. Fleming said. "As I mentioned when we first acquired his rights, he's a hard-nosed player that plays with intensity on every shift, and he's the kind of player that works hard and will chip in offensively while also getting under the skin of opposing players."
The 5-foot-11 winger began his professional career with a pair of seasons in the Central Hockey League with the Oklahoma City Blazers. Herauf put together his best season offensively in 2004-05 when he notched a career-high 39 points (22g, 17a) in 50 games. During his first professional season in 2003-04, Herauf tallied eight points (3g, 5a) and 157 PIM in 29 games.
Opening Day for the ECHL's 20th Anniversary Season will be Oct. 18 when the Johnstown Chiefs host the Wheeling Nailers at Cambria County War Memorial in a rematch of Game 7 from the first-ever ECHL Finals.
