San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas---White Wings starting pitcher Eric Blackwell stifled the Colts' hot bats and Ro Grande Valley got timely hitting from the top of its lineup to beat San Angelo 8-1 in game one of a four game series Monday night at Foster Field.
Rio scored first, plating two runs in the top of the first inning on a David Peralta fielder's choice and an RBI single from Leivi Ventura. Ventura (16) extended the lead to 3-0 with a solo home run in the third inning.
Meanwhile Blackwell was dealing, forcing the Colts to ground into a double play in each of the first three innings. He allowed only four fly balls in his six and two thirds innings of one-run baseball. The right-hander from California also walked two and struck out two.
The only San Angelo run of the game came in the bottom of the third on a Cory Patton base hit that plated Mark Ramos. Rio Grande Valley piled on the runs as the game continued, scoring single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, before putting the game away with a three run eighth. Rio's Wilmer Pino finished the night 4-4 with a home run and three RBI.
Blackwell (7-3, 3.22) earned the win, while Colts starter Adam Kramer (3-2, 6.46) took the loss after allowing five earned runs in six and two thirds innings on the hill.
Game two of the series is Tuesday night, when it will be two dollar Tuesday presented by Budweiser where hot dogs, beer, soda and more will cost just two bucks a piece. First pitch is at 7:05 and tickets are still available by calling 94-COLTS or by visiting sanangelocolts.com.
