Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

The Waterloo Black Hawks will have a new voice behind the mike when they begin defense of their first ever National Championship this season. Dave Schmitt, the former "voice" of the Tri City Storm will join the Hawks as Play-By-Play announcer and Director of Media Relations.

"I am extremely happy to have Dave join our team," said Doug Miller, General Manager of Business Operations for the Black Hawks. "He brings a wealth of USHL experience to the booth and is a great person that our fans are going to love."

Schmitt, a St. Louis native, spent the past four season as the play by play announcer for the Tri City Storm, the team the Black Hawks defeated for their first ever Clark Cup Championship and Tier One National Championship. He also spent a year in Algona, Iowa as Sports Director for KLGA radio.

"Joining the Black Hawks was an easy decision for my wife and I," said Schmitt. "It is a class organization from top to bottom with an unmatched fan base and atmosphere. I was amazed at the support the team draws when I would call the games there for the Storm. I can't wait until opening night."

Dave and his wife Glenda and son Josiah will relocate to the Waterloo area and join the team before the preseason game September 8th against the Cedar Rapids Roughriders.
