
Black Bears Rally Not Quite Enough

Trailing 5-3 in the Eighth inning, the Berkshire Black Bears rallied to tie the game at 5-5, but it wasn't enough as Elmira came right back and won the game in the bottom of the ninth 6-5.
In the top of the eighth inning, Chris Briones doubled, P.J. Johnston singled, and they both scored on a Pete Paciorek double.
In the top of the ninth, the Black Bears threatened again as they had the go-ahead run on second, but failed to score.
Then in the bottom of the ninth Matt Baillie came on to pitch. Baillie gave up three two singles with two outs to score the winning run.
Pete Paciorek and Manny Crespo each had a hit and a pair of RBI's.
Scott Hunter went 4-5 for the Pioneers of Elmira, while Rickie Morton went 3-3 and scored the game-winning run for Elmira.
The Black Bears fall to 6-12 on the year, while Elmira improves to 10-6.
