BINGHAMTON - Sam Holeczy scored the lone goal in a 6-1 loss for the Binghamton Black Bears to the visiting Watertown Wolves on Saturday night at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena.
Cole McKechney gave the Wolves a 1-0 lead just 6:54 into the game. Troy Taylor found McKechney, and he slipped the puck past goaltender Joe Sheppard. The goal was McKechney's third of the year with assists from Taylor and Johnny Bonta.
Binghamton responded shortly after to tie the game at one. Geno DeAngelo moved down the right side and found Sam Holeczy at the top of the crease and he slid the puck by goaltender Brendan Colgan for his fifth of the season. Assists on the goal were credited to DeAngelo and Jens Petersen and came at 8:25 of the first.
Colin Chmelka and Justin MacDonald scored just under a minute apart to give the Wolves a 3-1 lead. Chmelka's goal came at 13:52 with assists from Taylor and Ryan Devine on a deflection in front of the net and MacDonald scored at 14:24 and Watertown took the two-goal lead into the intermission despite being outshot, 16-12.
After no scoring in the second period, Chmelka and Alexander Jmaeff scored just 53 seconds apart to give the Wolves a 5-1 lead in the third period. Rocco Dicostanzo finished the scoring for Watertown at 11:31 of the third period to seal the 6-1 win.
The Black Bears return home on Saturday, December 18 for Teddy Bear Toss Night against rival Watertown at 7:00 p.m.! Live music on the concourse, happy hour drink specials from 5:30 p.m. until puck drop at 7:00 p.m.
