Buffalo Bisons News Release

Today's Game

Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons open a four-game series with the Durham Bulls at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). After dropping yesterday's game to Gwinnet, the Herd is now 1-3 during its current eight-game homestand. Beginning Tuesday, the Bisons will play eight-games on the road, as they travel to Gwinnett and Charlotte.

vs. the Bulls

This is the second series of the year between these two clubs. The Bulls swept a four-game series from the Herd, May 27-30, at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Durham outscored the Bisons 37-19 in the series. Since 1998, the Herd has a 33-27 record against the Bulls in Buffalo.

Today's Starter

RHP THAD WEBER will make his third start of the season for the Bisons tonight. In his last outing on June 15 in Pawtucket, the righty nearly made history as he did not allow a hit over the seven innings he worked. He allowed only one walk, and struck out eight. After departing because of a pitch count, Pawtucket's OF Alex Hassan broke up the team no-hit bid with an eighth-inning home run.

Jose Reyes

Blue Jays SS JOSE REYES will make his first appearance for the Bisons tonight, as he continues his MLB injury rehab assignment. On the DL since suffering an ankle injury on April 12 with Toronto, Reyes began his rehab with Dunedin (A) on Monday and hit .417 (5-12) in three games. A four-time All-Star and 2011 N.L. batting champion, Reyes is scheduled to play three games with the Bisons.

Pillar joins the Herd

The Bisons also welcome OF KEVIN PILLAR to the team for his Triple-A debut. Pillar is in just his third year as a pro, and this season hit .313 with 20 doubles, five home runs and 30 RBI in 71 games with Double-A New Hampshire. In his 259 career games, Pillar sports a .325 batting average. To make roster room, OF RYAN LANGERHANS has been released.

Rotating Nicely

The Bisons starting rotation has posted a 2.79 ERA in the team's last eight games. Over that span, the group has six quality starts and has yielded just 31 hits and 13 walks over 48.1 innings of work while striking out 34. Opponents have scored more than three runs off a Herd starter only once since the streak began on June 14.

Blue Jays Update

After having the day off on Thursday, the Blue Jays look to continue their eight-game winning streak as they take on the Baltimore Orioles tonight at Rogers Centre (7:07 p.m.). Former Bison RHP R.A. DICKEY (6-8, 4.90 ERA) will take the mound for the Jays.
