Today's Game:
The Buffalo Bisons host the Pawtucket Red Sox in the second and third games of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (12:30 p.m.). The Bisons opened up the series with a 5-3 win on Tuesday for their ninth straight win. On Saturday, the Herd leaves for a four-game series in Rochester.
Winning Streak
The Bisons have won nine straight games, one shy of the club's modern era record. Buffalo has won 10 in a row twice, first accomplished April 18-28, 2002. The team then matched the streak, August 12-21(1), 2004. This the first time of the three they can pick up win #10 at home.
Winning Ways
With a win in game one today, Buffalo can move 10 games over the .500-mark for the first time since August 28, 2010. The Bisons had three cracks at 10-games over last year by lost each time. The Bisons have been in sole possession of 1st place in the IL North for five consecutive days, their best stretch since July of the 2007 season.
Bisons vs. PawSox
The Bisons were 7-9 against the Red Sox last season. The road team dominated the series with 11 of the 16 wins as Pawtucket went 6-2 at Coca-Cola Field and the Bisons were 5-3 at McCoy Stadium. Since 1998, the Bisons hold the 120-119 edge over last year's IL Champions.
What Brown does for us
MARTY BROWN (251) is now just two wins shy of Buffalo Baseball Hall of Famer Brian Graham (253) for the most wins in the Bisons modern era.
Mr. Clutch
INF LUIS JIMENEZ drove home three more runs on Tuesday, giving him 15 RBI in his last six games. On the season, Jimenez's 20 RBI are the second most in the IL behind only Gwinnett's Ernesto Mejia (21). The slugger is hitting .480 (12-25) with runners in scoring position and an incredible .727 (8-11) with runners in scoring position and two outs.
Negrych
INF JIM NEGRYCH has five hits in his last eight at-bats to pull back to a .500 batting average. He's back leads all hitters in affiliated baseball. He also tops all International League hitters with a .560 on-base percentage and a .795 slugging percentage.
Toronto (8-13) picked up a 6-5 win in 11 innings over the Baltimore Orioles yesterday. Four different Jays went deep, including C J.P. ARENCIBIA'S eighth home run of the season. Toronto opens up a four-game series in the Bronx tonight at 7:05 p.m.
