Buffalo Bisons News Release

TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Syracuse Chiefs in the second game of a four-game series from Alliance Bank Park (7:00 p.m.). The Herd is looking to even the set as the Chiefs won 3-2 in 10 innings last night. This game is part of an eight-game roadtrip as the Bisons will be in Rochester, May 9-12. Buffalo is coming off a 6-2 homestand against Pawtucket, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Charlotte. On the mound tonight for Buffalo will be LHP Jeremy Sowers. The southpaw collected his first win of the season on Thursday with seven innings of work against the Knights. Syracuse will counter with RHP Kane Davis.

SWEET AND SOWERS: LHP Jeremy Sowers has pitched much better than his 1-2 record would indicate. The southpaw has three quality starts in his first five efforts and leads the Herd with his 2.73ERA. However, Buffalo has scored just 14 runs of support in his five games (2.8 runs/game). On Thursday against Charlotte, Sowers allowed just one run in seven innings to pick up his first win. He matched a season high with six strikeouts as the Herd won, 5-2.

HAVE YOU HERR'D: Infielder Aaron Herr had two more hits last night. He has now hit in 18 of his last 21 games with a .333 (26-78) average with 5 doubles, 2 triples, 4 homeruns and 13 runs scored. Herr has also driven in 16 runs in his last 19 games. He now leads the team with a .288 batting average and 19RBI.

FINDING A GROOVE: Outfielder Jason Tyner has the Bisons longest active hit streak. Tyner has hit in six straight games with a .389 (7-18) batting average. That's not the only way he's been getting on base. Tyner has also walked 10 times in his last 12 games. On the season, Tyner has walked 13 times and only struck out four times in 27 games.

BISONS BITS: RHP Rick Bauer has pitched scoreless baseball in 11 of his 12 outings. His 6 saves are T3rd most in the International League...Despite going on the disabled list on May 1, Jordan Brown still leads the International League with 11 doubles. The total is two more than any other hitter in the IL...Buffalo's team ERA has fallen to 3.95. It's the 7th lowest mark in the IL...Danny Sandoval collected 2 doubles in his three-hit game on Monday. He's the sixth Bisons player to collect a pair of doubles in a game this season.
