Charlotte Going \'Pink' For One Special \'Knight'

FORT MILL, S.C. - May 6, 2008 - For one night, the Charlotte Knights will not don their pinstripes when they take the field this Saturday. The Knights are hosting their 3rd annual fundraiser, "Pink Knights" this Saturday, May 10. The Knights will play a double-header against the Toledo Mud Hens. Gates will open at 4 p.m. with the first game schedule at 5:15 p.m. The second game will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. The first 2,500 fans will receive a pink baseball courtesy of Charlotte Radiology.
As part of the Pink Knights event, players will wear special pink jerseys during the second game that will be auctioned off for charity. All profits will go to the Carolinas HealthCare Foundation which will help to underwrite mammography and diagnostic follow-ups for women who wouldn't normally be able to afford such care.
Jerseys will be auctioned off during the game with bidding starting at $50 per jersey. All bids will close at the end of the 6th inning and winners will be notified before the end of the game. In an effort to "pack the park", the Knights will donate a percentage of gate receipts for the game. Last year's game raised over $10,000.
