Today's Game
This afternoon, the Bisons face on the Syracuse Chiefs in the third game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). The Herd has lost four in a row after starting this seven-game homestand with a 5-3 win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday night. Buffalo is just 3-9 at home this season and an even .500 (8-8) on the road.
Last Game (SYR 5, BUF 0)
Former Bisons LHP Aaron Laffey allowed just two singles over six innings to lead the Chiefs to a 5-0 win over the Herd. It is Buffalo's fourth shutout loss of the season. LHP Scott Diamond was sharp for the Bisons and allowed just one run without issuing a walk over seven innings. However, the lefty was saddled with his third defeat of 2016.
vs. Syracuse (1-4)
The Bisons have now lost four in a row to their Thruway rival. The Herd picked up a 2-0 victory in the first matchup of the season on April 12, but since has been outscored by the Chiefs, 26-11. These teams will meet next for a four-game home-and-home series starting in Buffalo on June 2.
Wade LeBlanc
LHP Wade LeBlanc is second the Bisons with a 2.73 ERA and 29 strikeouts. He has fanned six or more in each of his last four starts, racking up 27 punchouts in only 24.2 innings of work. He allowed just three runs over 5.1 innings of work on Monday in a no-decision. He fanned seven in that start as the Herd earned the 5-3 win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
David Adams
INF David Adams brings an eight-game hit streak into today's game, the 4th-longest active streak in the IL. The infielder has averaged .450 (9-20) since April 24 with three doubles and five RBI. He has also drawn six walks in the last eight games for a .577 on-base pct. during the hot stretch. Adams leads the Bisons with 12 walks on the year for a .385 on-base pct that's just 14 plate appearances shy of qualification.
Roster Move
INF Shane Opitz has been promoted to the Bisons for his Triple-A debut. Opitz hit .186 (11-59) with two doubles and four RBI in 21 games for New Hampshire (AA). RHP Ryan Tepera has also been activated after a two-game stint in Toronto (2.0IP, 9.00) while RHP Bobby Korecky has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to May 6.
Bisons Bits
INF Jesus Montero is tied for 3rd in the IL with 31 base hits...INF Matt Dominguez has hit in nine of his last 10 games at Triple-A with a .421 average (16-38), four doubles, two homers and 11 RBI since April 17.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (16-15) won their fourth straight game, 5-2 over the Dodgers, to move back above the .500-mark. Former Bisons CF Kevin Pillar hit a three-run homer in the 8th to snap a 2-2 tie. Promoted yesterday, INF Andy Burns did not make his MLB debut yet. The Blue Jays face Clayton Kershaw today with a 1:07 p.m. first pitch from Rogers Centre.
