Today's Game

Tonight, the Bisons host the Rochester Red Wings in the first game of a five-game in four-day series at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). Buffalo and Rochester both sit in 2nd place in the IL North with identical 59-56 records, 4.5 games back of 1st place Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

vs. the Red Wings

Rochester holds a 5-4 edge in the season series thus far. The Red Wings took two of three when the teams last met, July 7-9 at Frontier Field. In addition to being knotted up in the playoff race, both clubs are 13-9 in Thruway Cup matches this season.

Todd Redmond

RHP TODD REDMOND will make his fifth start tonight. Redmond lasted just three innings on Wednesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks, despite striking out five. Overall, the righty holds a 5.87 ERA in his four starts this season (15.1 IP).

MattVP

INF MATT HAGUE raked in two hits last night, expanding his IL-leading hit count to 152. Hague is looking to become the first Bisons batter to lead the league in hits at the end of the season since Jesus Feliciano collected 154 in 2009. He would also become the first Buffalo batter to win the batting title since Ben Francisco in 2007 (.318 avg.).

Ben Rowen

RHP BEN ROWEN tossed a scoreless inning in relief yesterday, his third appearance for the Herd since being added to the roster on August 8. In 5.0 total innings, Rowen has yielded three hits and no walks, while striking out three batters and not allowing a run.

Bisons Bits

OF DALTON POMPEY leads the IL with a .464 on-base pct. since July 17, racking up 33 hits and 18 walks in that time...OF ALEX HASSAN is hitting .417 in his last 11 games, with eight multi-hit performances in that span...With yesterday's win in Gwinnett, Buffalo avoided a winless season against an opponent for the first time in the modern era...RHP SCOTT COPELAND earned his team-high ninth win of the season on Sunday and re-takes the IL lead with his 1.96 ERA.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (61-52) beat the Yankees, 2-0 yesterday for their first sweep in New York since 2003. Marco Estrada won his 10th game of the season, and Josh Donaldson ripped his 31st home run of the year. Toronto now sits just 1.5 games back in the AL East. The Blue Jays are off today, but open a six-game homestand tomorrow against Oakland (7:07 p.m.).
