TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Louisville Bats in the opening game of a four-game series from Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). Tonight's game is also the start of an eight-game homestand as the Herd will also welcome in the Durham Bulls, June 30 - July 3.
vs. BATS: The Bisons have not squared off with Louisville yet this season. In 2011, the Herd went 4-4 against the Bats after splitting each series in Buffalo and Louisville. Since their return to the International League in 1998, the Bisons are 60-52 (.536) overall against the Bats and are 34-22 (.607) at Coca-Cola Field.
FAMILIA: RHP JEURYS FAMILIA takes the hill tonight for his 16th start of the season. The righty is coming off a loss in Norfolk (2.2IP, 5ER). Familia is third among Bisons starters with 62 strikeouts and is second with five wins on the year. Overall, he is 5-4 with a 5.00ERA in 66.2 innings of work.
SILKY: INF JOSH SATIN extended his hit streak to five games yesterday and has reached base 16 times during the stretch. The infielder went 4-5 yesterday with 2HR and 4RBI. Since June 21, Satin has hit .647 (11-17) with four walks and a .727 on-base percentage. With four hits last night, Satin now has a team-high 19 multi-hit performances in 2012.
J-ROD: INF JOSH RODRIGUEZ hit his second homer as a Bison yesterday and his second in as many games. Since joining the Herd on June 21, the infielder has hit .286 (4-14) in three games. In 57 games with Double-A Binghamton this season, Rodriguez hit .290 (62-214) with 5HR and 29RBI.
BISONS BITS: OF RAUL REYES had four hits in yesterday's game and hit his first homer of the season. Since June 17, Reyes has hit .440 (11-25) in seven games and has raised his average from .179 to .250 during that span...INF VALENTINO PASCUCCI had two more free passes yesterday and is now tied for second in the International League with 57 walks...Today's game is the first time since May 22 that Bisons pitchers have had to hit. Buffalo played 32 straight games against American League affiliated clubs.
METS UPDATE : The Mets (39-35) lost to the Cubs last night by a score of 6-1. Former Bison INF IKE DAVIS drove in the only run for New York with a solo homer in the ninth. LHP JOHAN SANTANA tossed 6.0 innings of two-run baseball in the loss (5H, 6K). RHP DILLON GEE takes the mound tonight from Wrigley Field (8:05 p.m.).
