The Buffalo Bisons take on the Indianapolis Indians in the third game of a four-game set from Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). The I-Tribe have won the first two games of the series. Buffalo is now 2-4 on their current homestand that ends tomorrow. On Monday, the Bisons leave for an eight-game roadtrip to Durham and Norfolk.
vs. Indianapolis
The Bisons are just 1-5 against the Indians this season, giving Indy the season-series win with two games left. It's the fifth consecutive season series win for the Indians over the Herd. The last time the Bisons won a season series was 2004 when Buffalo went 6-2 against Indy.
J.J. on the bump
RHP JOSH JOHNSON makes his Bisons debut today in the second game of his MLB injury rehab assignment. The Blue Jays placed the righty on the DL on May 2 with right triceps inflammation. Johnson allowed one run in three innings (five strikeouts) in a rehab outing on Monday for Single-A Dunedin. This will actually be the Triple-A debut for the two-time National League All-Star, who reached the major leagues in just his fourth professional season with Florida (2005).
Hot Bat
C JOSH THOLE has hit in 8 of his last 10 contests. Since May 11, the backstop is hitting .382 (13-34) with two home runs and nine RBI. The stretch has raised Thole's season average to .347 -the fourth best mark in the International League.
Bully for the Pen
In the first two games of the series with Indy, the Bisons bullpen has allowed just three hits while striking out eight in 9.2 scoreless innings of work. The pen has a 3.25 ERA for the month of May and is led by RHP NEIL WAGNER, who ranks tied for 2nd in the IL with 11 saves, and LHP JUAN PEREZ, who has posted a 0.92 ERA in 16 outings.
