LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - In front of 7,223 fans, the third-largest Coolray Field crowd of the season, the Gwinnett Braves (20-30) utilized a strong performance by starter Sean Gilmartin to clip the Toledo Mud Hens (15-35), 4-2.

Gilmartin (W, 3-3) had lost three-straight games coming into play, but he delivered a quality start on Saturday night. The left-hander hurled 6.1 innings, scattered eight hits, gave up two runs and recorded six strikeouts for his first victory since April 26.

He did not start strong, however, as the Mud Hens got on the board first. Brandon Douglas led off the third inning with a double, moved to third on a bunt by Argenis Diaz and scored on sacrifice fly by Kevin Russo, giving Toledo a 1-0 lead.

Held scoreless for three innings by Toledo starter Shawn Hill, the G-Braves broke out of their funk in the fourth inning. After a single by Joey Terdoslavich and two groundouts, Stefen Gartrell ripped an RBI single to square it up at 1-1. Gwinnett then took the lead on back-to-back hits by Joe Leonard and Paul Janish. Leonard single put runners on the corners, and Janish laced a base hit over the second baseman's head to stake the G-Braves to a 2-1 advantage.

The G-Braves added to the lead in the fifth. Singles by Tyler Pastornicky and Terdoslavich put runners on first and second with one out. Brandon Boggs knocked in Pastornicky with an RBI single, making 3-1.

The Mud Hens got a run back in the top of the sixth, as Jordan Lennerton extended his hitting streak to 16 games with a solo blast over the right-center fence, cutting the lead to 3-2.

Gwinnett added a pivotal insurance run in the seventh. Pastornicky singled with one out and scored on an RBI double by Terdoslavich, expanding the lead to 4-2.

It would be all the bullpen would need, as Kameron Loe, Juan Cedeno and Pat Egan combined to throw 2.2 frames of scoreless baseball. Egan (S, 2) recorded his second save of the season, inducing a game-ending double play off the bat of Douglas. It was the Gwinnett bullpen's third-straight scoreless game, extending a scoreless relief streak to 12.1 innings.

Hill (L, 0-5) suffered the loss for Toledo. He was tagged for three runs on nine hits in 5.0 innings.

Offensively, the G-Braves received big nights from Terdoslavich and Leonard. Terdoslavich went 3-for-4 with his International League-leading 20th double an RBI, while Leonard matched a career high with three hits in a 3-for-4 effort. Pastornicky and Gartrell added two hits each. Gwinnett's winning streak is now three games, their longest streak since winning four-straight against Charlotte from April 5-7.

Lennerton paced the Mud Hens, as the former Oregon State Beaver went 2-for-4 with his eighth home run of the year.

The Gwinnett Braves conclude the four-game series against the Toledo Mud Hens on Sunday afternoon at Coolray Field, first pitch scheduled for 2:05 PM. Right-hander Tim Corcoran (2-3, 3.64) will start for the G-Braves against right-hander Derek Hankins (1-2, 2.84) of the Mud Hens. Listen to the game on WDUN 550 AM and 102.9 FM with Tony Schiavone calling the play-by-play.
