Tonight's Game
Tonight, the Bisons play the Syracuse Chiefs in the finale of a four-game series at NBT Bank Stadium (7:00 p.m.). Buffalo dropped last night's game on a walk-off homer in the 11th inning. The Herd will travel back to Buffalo tomorrow for a two-day, three-game series with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The Thruway Cup
With last night's loss, Syracuse regained the lead for the Thruway Cup over Buffalo, now leading by half a game. The Red Wings are four games behind the lead. In July, Buffalo will travel to Rochester for a four-game series and host Syracuse for two games, July 23-24.
Deck McGuire
RHP DECK McGUIRE will make his eighth start of the season for the Herd tonight. The righty has struggled on the road, but picked up the win his last outing at NBT Bank Stadium on June 10 (5.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 3 SO). In two starts against the Chiefs this year, McGuire is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA over 12 innings.
Brett Cecil
LHP BRETT CECIL made his first appearance for the Bisons in last night's loss. The southpaw worked through one inning, allowing one run on two hits. Cecil joined the Herd yesterday on an MLB injury rehab assignment as he works his way back from a strained left groin.
Andy LaRoche
INF ANDY LaROCHE made his 11th start of the season at third base last night, and went 1-for-3 with an RBI at the plate. LaRoche has hit safely in 12 of his last 14 games played. Over that span, he is batting .391 (18-46) with four doubles, two homers, and 10 RBI.
A.J. Jimenez
C A.J. JIMENEZ continued swinging a hot bat with a multi-hit performance last night (2-4, R, RBI, 3B, BB). In his last five games, Jimenez is batting .364 (8-22) with two extra-base hits and three RBI. The slugger has been effective in the DH role. In five games as a DH, Jimenez has batted .450 (9-20) and driven in two runs.
Bisons Bits
INF DAN JOHNSON drove in his 50th run of the season last night, which moves him to 2nd place in the IL...INF RYAN GOINS went 2-for-6 last night. He is second among active Bisons in most multi-hit performances this season (Pillar, 19).
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (45-39) had the day off yesterday to travel back to Toronto to begin a two-game series with Milwaukee today at 1:07 p.m. Former Bison RHP Drew Hutchison got the start in the series opener today as the Blue Jays and fans celebrate Canada Day at Rogers Centre.
