Indianapolis Indians News Release
INDIANAPOLIS -- The Toledo Mud Hens (40-45) launched back-to-back home runs within the first four pitches of the game to set the tone for their eventual 9-1 thrashing of the Indianapolis Indians (47-37) on Monday night at Victory Field.
Ezequiel Carrera took the contest's first pitch deep over the right-center field wall and Hernan Perez followed with his own solo blast to left to give the 'Hens a quick 2-0 lead after just four pitches. The Mud Hens offense then remained unchecked in the opening frame, adding two more runs to bolster the lead to 4-0 after only one inning.
Following a scoreless second, Toledo's Mike Hessman lifted a towering solo shot to left field to widen the gap to 5-0 in the top of the third.
After Toledo added one more to make the score 6-0, the Indians finally broke through with their lone tally in the bottom of half the third. Mel Rojas Jr. put the Tribe on the board by lifting his first career Triple-A homer, a solo blast to center that brought Indy within 6-1.
In relief, Tyler Waldron pitched 5.1 solid innings, allowing two earned runs (3R) on seven hits. Waldron's outing was the most innings the righty has pitched out of the 'pen this season and the second-most he's thrown overall on the year.
