TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Syracuse Chiefs in the finale of a three-game series at Alliance Bank Stadium (7:00 p.m.). After wrapping up the series with the Chiefs, the Bisons will remain in Syracuse to play two games against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this weekend.

THRUWAY CUP: The Bisons won in 14 innings last night and are now 6-3 against the Chiefs this season. Following the victory, Buffalo is in first place in the 2012 Thruway series. The Herd holds a record of 11-7 in the three-way battle between the Bisons, Chiefs (10-8) and Red Wings (5-12).

FAMILIA : RHP JEURYS FAMILIA takes the mound tonight for his 18th start of the season. The righty is coming off a loss against Durham on July 1. On the road, Familia is 4-2 with a 3.89ERA and 37 strikeouts in 37.0 innings of work. He struck out a season-high eight batters the last time he faced Syracuse. On April 22, Familia allowed just one run in five innings in a 6-1 Bisons win.

MAY DAY: C LUCAS MAY had four hits in last night's win, including three doubles, two RBI and a pair of walks. He is the second Bison to slug three doubles in a game this season (OF VALENTINO PASCUCCI, June 27). He is also the first Bisons player to reach base six times in a game since INF JUSTIN TURNER went 6-6 and hit for the cycle on September 6, 2010 in Rochester.

HUGE HEFNER: After being optioned by the Mets to the Bisons yesterday, RHP JEREMY HEFNER tossed 4.0 innings of relief to pick up the win last night. The righty gave up four hits, walked one, and struck out four in his first relief outing for the Herd this season. In seven starts with Buffalo before his big league promotion, Hefner posted a 3-2 record with a 2.72ERA.

BISON BITS: In his second game back with the Herd last night, OF ADAM LOEWEN hit a three-run home run. Loewen missed 61 games on the Bisons disabled list...International League All-Star RHP FERNANDO CABRERA threw a season-high three innings last night (H, 3BB, 2K). He continues to lead the IL with 16 saves this season...Last night's contest was the longest game of the year for the Herd in both innings (14) and time (4:40).

METS UPDATE : The Mets (45-38) won in walk-off fashion against the Phillies last night, 6-5. INF DAVID WRIGHT delivered the game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth (3-5, R, HR, 4RBI). LHP JOHAN SANTANA takes the hill as the Mets begin a three-game series with the Cubs tonight from Citi Field (7:10 p.m.).
