Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons face the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the second game of a three-game set from Coca-Cola Park (6:35 p.m.). The Herd defeated the IronPigs, 2-1, in the series opener last night and now have a winning record (8-7) on the road this season. Following tomorrow's game, the Bisons return home for a seven-game homestand on Monday.
Last Game (BUF 2, LHV 1)
The Bisons picked up their third 2-1 victory of the season and second over the last three days. INF David Adams hit a two-out, RBI-double in the 9th inning off former Bisons' reliever RHP Edward Mujica to drive in the winning run. RHP Drew Hutchison allowed just one run over six innings with six strikeouts in a no-decision.
vs. Lehigh Valley (1-0)
The Bisons will face the IronPigs 17 times this year in the IL's unbalanced schedule, one fewer than in 2015. The Bisons have a winning record all-time at Coca-Cola Park (35-32) including an 18-10 record since 2013. Buffalo will return to Lehigh Valley from June 17-19.
Scott Diamond
LHP Scott Diamond has allowed one or fewer runs in three of his four starts with the Bisons. He tossed six shutout innings in a no-decision last Sunday in Rochester. Diamond has walked just three of the 90 batters he faced this year and has held righties to a .172 average against.
Jesus Montero
DH Jesus Montero has the longest active hit streak in the International League at 13 games. With a hit today, he would establish a new season-high hit streak for the IL. Montero has averaged .333 (19-57) with four doubles, a home run, seven RBI and six runs scored during his streak. Montero leads all IL hitters with 28 hits on the season.
Domonic Brown
OF Domonic Brown is tied for 2nd in the International League with his 16 RBI. The slugger has reached base in 15 of his last 17 games with a .268 average (19-71) and five walks. Brown spent the first 10 years of his career in the Phillies system and hit .281 with 37 doubles, 15 home runs and 90 RBI in 181 career games with the IronPigs.
Chad Jenkins
RHP Chad Jenkins is 2-0 with a 0.93 ERA in his six relief outings. He has worked more than an inning in five of his six appearances from the bullpen, including picking up the win with two shutout frames last night. Jenkins was 8-6 in 11 starts and 30 relief outings in 2015.
Bisons Bites
This is the first time since 2011 (10-14) the Bisons will finish April with a losing record...Buffalo batters have drawn 11 walks and struck out only five times over the last two games.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (11-13) slugged their way to a 6-1 win over the Rays last night. Toronto hit four solo home runs, including two from OF Michael Saunders. 3B Josh Donaldson's homer was his eighth of the season with former Bisons 2B Ryan Goins also going deep. RHP Aaron Sanchez threw seven shutout innings for the win. Toronto faces Tampa Bay at 6:10 p.m.
