Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

Alec Asher did not allow an earned run over 8.2 IP as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (12-10) topped the Buffalo Bisons (10-13) by a score of 3-2 on Saturday night at Coca-Cola Park.

Asher (1-0) gave up the two runs (none earned) on two hits while fanning five over his 8.2 IP. RHP Edward Mujica (0.1 IP) came on in relief and got Domonic Brown to fly to left and end the game. Mujica notches his seventh save of the year.

Andy Burns' two-run shot off of Asher with two outs in the top of the ninth were the only runs that the right-hander allowed and brought the Bisons within 3-2.

The Pigs grabbed an early 1-0 lead with a run in the first as Taylor Featherston (2-3, 2B, 2 R) reached with a one-out double, advanced to third on the play on a throwing error charged to Brown and later scored on Nick Williams' (2-4, RBI) RBI single.

In the home half of the second, Cam Perkins (2-3, SB, R) got on base with a one-out single, stole second and was brought home on Alfredo Marte's two-out RBI single to give the IronPigs a 2-0 lead.

The single from Perkins extended his hitting streak to 13 games, which is tied for the longest hitting streak in the International League this season.

A run in the sixth opened up a 3-0 lead for Lehigh Valley as Featherston drew a one-out walk, went to third on a single and scored on Andrew Knapp's sac fly.

Buffalo starter Scott Diamond (2-2) allowed the three runs on five hits while walking two and fanning one over six innings of work.

The series wraps up on Sunday at 1:35 p.m. as RHP David Buchanan (0-1, 4.58) will be on the bump for the Pigs against Bisons southpaw Wade LeBlanc (2-1, 2.22).
