TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons square off with the Columbus Clippers in the opener of a four-game series at Huntington Park (7:05 p.m.). With their 2-1 win yesterday, the Herd earned a split of the series with Toledo to begin this roadtrip. The Bisons are 16-14 in road games this season.
vs. CLIPPERS: The Bisons are 3-1 against Columbus this season. The Herd won the series against the Clippers at Coca-Cola Field from May 28-31. Since their return to the IL in 1998, Buffalo is 29-27 at Huntington Park.
DEALIN' DYLAN: RHP DYLAN OWEN makes his fifth start of the season tonight. In his last start on May 28, the righty tossed six innings of two hit baseball in a win. As a starter, Owen is 2-1 with a 1.62ERA and 14 strikeouts in 22.1 innings of work. He has allowed only one earned run in each start.
MLB REHAB: INF RUBEN TEJADA went 0-3 in the first game of his rehab assignment with the Herd. The Mets placed Tejada on the disabled list on May 27 with a right quad strain. He hit .305 (32-105) with 10 doubles and eight RBI in 27 games with the Mets this season. Tejada played in 119 games with the Bisons over parts of 2010 and 2011.
SPEED: OF FRED LEWIS stole three bases last night in Toledo. He is the first Bisons player to swipe three bags since Trent Durrington reached the feat on June 24, 2007 against Norfolk. Lewis also broke the tie with OF COREY WIMBERLY for the team lead in stolen bases (10).
YOUNG: The Mets have selected the contract of RHP CHRIS YOUNG. In his one start with the Bisons, the righty threw six shutout innings in a no-decision. In 2011, he was 1-0 with a 1.88ERA in four starts (24.0IP, 22K). Young will make his season debut for New York tonight in Washington
BISONS BITS: The Bisons are second in the International League in team batting average (.263) and runs scored (265). The Herd is third in the IL in home runs (55) and team ERA (3.27)...RHP PEDRO BEATO threw 3.1 innings of hitless baseball last night to pick up his second win out of the bullpen. He extended his scoreless outing streak to five games (8.2IP, 6K).
METS UPDATE : The Mets (31-24) could not complete the four-game sweep of the Cardinals as they lost to St. Louis yesterday, 5-4. New York travels to Washington for a three-game set with the Nationals that will begin tonight (7:05 p.m.). RHP CHRIS YOUNG will take the mound in his first start with the Mets following shoulder surgery.
