Bisons Knock off PawSox for Third Straight

Buffalo won 5-1 over the PawSox Saturday night at McCoy Stadium. Carl Crawford went 2 for 5 in his third game with the PawSox as he continues rehab. Mets outfielder Jason Bay joined Buffalo after being placed on the MLB injury rehab assignment. Bay went 1 for 4 and is scheduled to play with the Bisons in tomorrow's game. The PawSox have given up eight runs in each of the three losses to Buffalo this series.

A walk and three back-to-back singles gave Buffalo the lead 2-0 after two innings. Matt Tuiasosopo and Josh Rodriguez scored on a single by Fred Lewis. The Bisons extended their lead to 4-0 after three innings. Matt den Dekker scored on a single by Adam Loewen and Zack Lutz scored on a single by Josh Rodriguez.

Carl Crawford singled to start the third for the PawSox and Lars Anderson followed with a double to put runners on base with no outs. Alex Hassan hit a fly ball to the catcher that wasn't caught, and the PawSox laoaded the bases again. Crawford scored on an RBI sac fly by J.C. Linares. PawSox trailed 4-1 after three innings.

With bases loaded in the fourth, Jason Bay scored on a wild pitch and the Bisons put another run on the board to lead 5-1. Zach Lutz hit a solo homerun, making the score 6-1 after six. Buffalo added two more runs in the eighth and extended their lead, 8-1.

In the bottom of the eighth, J.C. Linares hit a solo homerun (1) to left and made the score 8-2. Jose Iglesias, Carl Crawford and Alex Hassan each had two hits for the PawSox. Linares had an RBI.

Zach Stewart took the loss for Pawtucket. He gave up eight hits and five runs in three innings and three batters. Dylan Owen got the win for the Bisons. He pitched a scoreless and hitless inning plus two batters.

The series with Buffalo concludes tomorrow at 1:05 pm. Brandon Duckworth (8-2, 3.45) faces Colin McHugh (1-2, 4.56). The PawSox will host Syracuse for a 4-game series starting on Monday July 16th at 7:05 pm at McCoy Stadium.
