Gwinnett Stripers News Release

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. - The Gwinnett Braves' all-time wins leader, right-hander Todd Redmond is heading to a new home. The Atlanta Braves announced a two-player trade on Saturday sending the fourth-year G-Brave to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for shortstop Paul Janish.

Redmond, 27, went 34-30 with a 3.78 ERA in 101 games, 97 starts over nearly four seasons with Gwinnett. He made his Triple-A debut with the club in the inaugural 2009 season, going 9-6 with a 4.41 ERA in 27 games, 24 starts that year. Redmond posted similar numbers in 2010, going 9-10 with a 4.26 ERA in 28 games, but provided the single greatest pitching performance in G-Braves history on May 28, 2010. On that day at Louisville Slugger Field in Louisville, KY, Redmond threw the franchise's first and only no-hitter as he blanked Louisville for nine innings in a 4-0 win.

The St. Petersburg, FL native returned to Gwinnett in 2011 and enjoyed his best statistical season, going 10-8 with a 2.92 ERA in 28 games, 27 starts. He led the International League in innings pitched with 169.2, establishing a new career high. Redmond also placed among the IL's best in WHIP (2nd, 1.17), starts (T-2nd, 27), ERA (3rd, 2.92), complete games (T-3rd, 2) and strikeouts (5th, 142).

In 18 starts for the G-Braves this season, Redmond went 6-6 with a 3.58 ERA. On May 21, he earned the IL's Pitcher of the Week award for the fourth time in his career with Gwinnett, making him one of just 11 pitchers ever to win the award four-plus times in the history of the circuit. At the time of the trade, Redmond ranked among IL leaders in starts (T-2nd, 18), innings pitched (5th, 105.2) and strikeouts (5th, 96).

For his eight-year career, including three seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, Redmond is 69-56 with a 3.57 ERA in 199 games, 193 starts.

The Gwinnett Braves return home to Coolray Field on Friday, July 20 as they open a four-game series against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. Tickets for all remaining G-Braves' home games are on sale now at the Coolray Field Box Office. Call (678) 277-0340 or visit gwinnettbraves.com for more information.
