Buffalo Bisons News Release
This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons host the Louisville Bats in the second game of a four-game series from Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). The Herd won 1-0 in the series opener last night. Buffalo is now 4-1 on its current eight-game homestand that started with a series win over the Bulls. The Bisons are 8-3 at home this season while the Bats are 4-9 on the road.
vs. THE BATS: This will be Louisville's lone trip to Coca-Cola Field this season. The Bats won the season series over the Herd last year, 5-3. However, Buffalo holds the 52-45 edge (.536) since the team's return to the International League in 1998. That includes a 30-19 mark at Coca-Cola Field.
LIVING RIGHT: LHP BOBBY LIVINGSTON faced just two more than the minimum last night in his eight-inning gem over Louisville. He retired the first nine batters of the game and got two doubleplays later in the contest. All three hits he allowed were only singles. The performance lowered the lefty's ERA on the season from 4.96 to 3.33.
HIT MACHINE: Hits were hard to come by yesterday, but you know OF JESUS FELICIANO got one. The outfielder went 1-4 to extend his hit streak to 10 games last night. The outfielder has averaged .415 (17-41) since April 22 with three doubles, a home run, five RBI and 13 runs scored. Feliciano's .371 average for the season is tied for the 3rd best mark in the International League.
HARD HITTING HESS: INF MIKE HESSMAN leads all International League hitters with 24RBI on the season. He's also 2nd in the IL with seven home runs, 13 extra-base hits and 50 total bases and tied for 2nd with a .630 slugging percentage. Hessman's 318 career minor league home runs are 26 more than any other active player.
SOLID APRIL: The Bisons closed out April with a 13-9 record. The 13 wins were their most in the first month of the season since 2007 (14-7). Buffalo didn't collect their 13th win in 2009 until May 25. Buffalo lost just one series of its seven series in the month and collected set wins against both teams from the 2009 Governors' Cup Finals (Scranton/WB, Durham). The Bisons had eight comeback wins in April. Buffalo had 16 comeback wins in all of 2009.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (14-10) had their win streak stopped at eight games as the Phillies collected the 10-0 win last night at Citizens Bank Park. New York was held to just three hits in a complete game effort by Philadelphia's RHP ROY HALLADAY. The Mets still lead the Phillies by a half a game in the NL East. The same two teams face each other tonight at 8:05 p.m.
