Today's Game

The Bisons are beginning their final homestand of the 2018 season, welcoming the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders for three games. The Bisons will finish their final homestand with a four-game series against Pawtucket Red Sox (August 24-27). Buffalo will face their Thruway Cup rivals in their final road trip of the season. The team squares off against the Rochester Red Wings August 28-30 (doubleheader on the 28th) and then finish the season at the Syracuse Chiefs August 31- September 3.

Last Game: BUF 4, GWN 2

RHP Mike Hauschild made his second start in a Bisons uniform on Sunday, tossing 5.2 innings allowing two runs. C Reese McGuire carried the offense, recording three hits including an RBI-double. OF Jonathan Davis added a home run to help the Herd earn the series split against Gwinnett.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre(5-7)

The Bisons and RailRiders are meeting for the final time in the 2018 season. Last time these two team met, Buffalo won two of three. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre currently holds the season series lead, having won seven of the twelve games played. INF Tim Lopes has dominated the RailRiders pitching staff this season, batting .325 (13-40) with a home run and 4RBI.

Today's Starter: RHP Brandon Cumpton

RHP Brandon Cumpton will take the mound for the Bisons as he looks for to earn his first win since his first start with the team against Norfolk on July 16. Cumpton has suffered back-to-back defeats, including on August 16 at Gwinnett (5.0IP, 8H, 4R/ER, 2BB, 2SO). The righty will be making his fourth start since returning from Toronto.

Reese McGuire

C Reese McGuire picked up his 21st multi-hit game of the season, going 3-4 with an RBI-double and stolen base in Sunday's contest. McGuire is hitting .364 (8-22) over his last ten games, and .444(4-9) over his last five. In the month of August the Bison backstop has hit .310 with 2HR, 8RBI.

Jonathan Davis

OF Jonathan Davis belted his third Triple-A home run on Sunday with what turned out to be the game-winning run. Davis also has 16RBI in 35 games since being promoted from New Hampshire (AA) in July.

Bisons' Bits

The Herd has made 220 roster moves in 2018. LHP Shawn Morimando became the 70th different player to appear in a Bisons uniform in his start on Saturday night. The most players in a single season to appear in a game since 2013 is 73. The most roster moves in one season of the affiliation with the Toronto Blue Jays is 239. Both marks reached in 2014.

Jose Fernandez

LHP Jose Fernandez extended his scoreless streak to ten games shutting the door in the Bisons 4-2 win over Gwinnett Sunday. His ten game scoreless streak spans 13.0IP and dates back to July 22nd. The lefty has been nothing short of dominant in this stretch recording 15 strikeouts and allowing only three hits in his 13 innings of work.

Blue Jays Update

Toronto (56-69) earned a 5-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles last night to open their three game series. C Danny Jansen collected another hit in the win, and he is now hitting .381 in six games with Toronto. Tonight, the Blue Jays with send RHP Sam Gaviglio (2-6, 5.13) to the mound against Orioles RHP Dylan Bundy (7-11, 4.99). After the series with Baltimore, the Blue Jays will have a scheduled off-day before hosting the Philadelphia.
