Today's Game

This evening, the Bisons take on the Durham Bulls in the third game of a four-game series. The Herd will then have a scheduled off-day on Monday before heading to Louisville and Indianapolis. Buffalo will play three doubleheaders on the road trip (7/24 (LOU), 7/27 (IND), and 7/29 (IND)) as part of the postponed games at Coca-Cola Field in April.

Last Game: BUF 6, DUR 5

The Bisons scored their third walk-off win of the season on Friday night, and their first in a month and a half. 1B Rowdy Tellez capped off the ninth inning rally with a sacrifice fly that scored OF Dalton Pompey. Durham took a 5-4 lead with a five-run fifth inning, but could not hold the lead. RHP Chris Rowley worked seven innings for the Herd, surrendering five runs but only one was earned in the no decision. RHP Murphy Smith earned his first win of the season in relief.

Durham (2-3)

The Bisons and Bulls are meeting for their second, and final, series of the season. They last played on April 23-25 at DBAP in Durham, NC. The Herd took the last game of the series with a 5-2 victory. RHP Chris Rowley is the only active pitcher on the Bisons' roster to have made an appearance against the Bulls during the series in April. C Reese McGuire is 4-10 (.400AVG) in three games against the Bulls this season and has a two extra-base hits and three runs driven in.

Today's Starter: RHP Brandon Cumpton

RHP Brandon Cumpton is making his second straight start for the Herd, and his fifth appearance overall. The former 9th round pick in 2010 by the Pirates was signed on July 5th, after beginning the year with Southern Maryland. Cumpton has recorded a save, in addition to wins in back-to-back appearances - one out of the bullpen and one as a starter.

Jonathan Davis

OF Jonathan Davis went 3-5 at the plate on Friday to help lead the Bisons' offense. Davis is hitting .353 in eight games with the Herd since being promoted from New Hampshire (AA). It was his second three-hit game with the team, and has gone 8-14 (.571) over a four-game hitting streak. In addition, Davis is 4-4 in stolen base attempts.

Dalton Pompey

OF Dalton Pompey reached base three times, including a double in the ninth inning before scoring the game-winning run. It was Pompey's third game back with Buffalo following a hand injury that landed him on the disabled list, and seventh overall (four in New Hampshire).

Transactions

Prior to Friday's game, INF Richard Urena was recalled by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Bisons' Bits

There have been eleven of the Blue Jays' 30 Top Prospects according to MLB.com play for the Bisons this season.....The Bisons now have 96 stolen bases this year, first in the IL and second amongst Triple-A teams (Colorado Springs, 126)...The last Bisons' walk-off win was on 5/31, vs. Columbus.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (44-52) returned to action on Friday and had a walk-off win over their own, 8-7 against the Baltimore Orioles. RHP Sam Gaviglio worked the first 7.2IP, allowing four runs, all earned in the start. Ex-Bison starter RHP Marcus Stroman is on the mound this afternoon as the Jays play game two of the three-game series against the O's. It is part of an overall six-game homestand that will see the Minnesota Twins visit next week.
