MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Montgomery Biscuits (29-33, 66-66) right-hander Victor Mateo tossed the Southern League's second individual no-hitter and third overall in 2013, beating the Jacksonville Suns (35-26, 69-59) by a final of 3-0 on a historic Saturday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Mateo (6-9), who took a no-hitter into the seventh inning against Jacksonville on July 27, finished the job on Saturday, throwing the first no-hitter in the ten-year history of Montgomery's ballpark.

It was also the second time the Suns have been no-hit this season, coming less than three weeks after Tennessee Smokies left-hander Eric Jokisch hurled a no-no against Jacksonville at Bragan Field.

Mateo struck out five and issued just one walk, a first-inning free pass to Suns catcher J.T. Realmuto. It would prove to be the only mistake Mateo made all night, as the right-hander spun Montgomery's first no-hitter since June 16, 2011, when Matt Moore blanked the Mobile Bay Bears at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Turning in the finest performance of his career, Mateo didn't need much run support. Kyeong Kang's RBI single started the scoring for the Biscuits, putting Montgomery ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the second against Suns starter Anthony DeSclafani (5-4).

Mateo made the slim, one-run advantage stand until Cameron Seitzer's two-run homer off DeSclafani in the sixth.

In the final inning, Mateo retired Zack Cox on a ground ball to second and Michael Main on a roller to third before facing Danny Black with two outs. Black then struck out swinging on a foul tip into the glove of Biscuits catcher Curt Casali to complete the no-hitter and send the Biscuits and their fans into a frenzy.

The loss, coupled with the Mobile BayBears' victory over the Smokies in Kodak, Tenn., reduced the Suns' South division lead to just a half game.

The Suns will attempt to rebound in game three of the five-game series on Sunday against Montgomery, sending left-hander Adam Conley (11-6, 3.29) to the hill in search of his Southern League-leading 12th victory. Conley will face off against Biscuits right-hander Jake Thompson (11-10, 4.35). First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET.

Suns fans can listen to Sunday's game on the Suns Baseball Network, 94.1 WSOS-FM or through jaxsuns.com, MiLB.com or the Suns iPhone or Android app, beginning at 2:35 p.m. ET with Suns Sunday on the UF Health Suns Pre-Game Show.
