Jackson Generals News Release

JACKSON, TN - Chattanooga (23-38) used four home runs and a four-run fourth to muscle their way past Jackson (28-33) Saturday, 7-4. The game was played in front of the second-largest crowd of the season, 5,713 at The Ballpark in Jackson. Chattanooga has won six straight and now lead the season series, 9-8, with three games remaining in the series. The Generals have now dropped their last seven games, but have out-hit the opponent in the last three losses.

Chris Taylor (2-5, RBI, R, SB) and Ramon Morla (2-5, RBI) kicked things off in the bottom of the first with RBIs to give Jackson the start they needed. It would be an otherwise quiet night though as the Generals picked up only one more tally in the fourth. While Jabari Blash (0-0, 4 BB, HBP) reached base in all five of his at-bats, his teammates never could get him in. The team had their chances once again, leaving 12 runners on base and going 4-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

James GIllheeney (L, 6-7, 4.07) worked through a tough, four-run fourth inning and it ended up doing him in. The left-hander allowed five runs in total, scattering six hits to go along with six strikeouts and a walk. Tyler Burgoon (3.35) went 2.1 innings in relief and surrendered two solo home runs, one to Joc Pederson, who did the same thing in the 3-2 win for Chattanooga on Friday.

On a night when Chattanooga hit four long balls, they extended their home run streak to 10 straight games. Gabriel Noriega (2-5, R, 2B, 2 K), Jack Marder (2-4, RBI, K) and Denny Almonte (2-5, 2 R, 2 K) all had multi-hit games for the Generals in the loss..

The middle game of the series will get underway at 6:05 p.m. (CT) on Sunday. Anthony Fernandez (9-7, 4.25) gets the ball for Jackson and will go up against Chris Reed (4-1, 3.68). The game can be heard on 96.5 ESPN Radio, TuneIn Radio App. and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
