Montgomery Biscuits News Release
PENSACOLA, Fla. - For the second-straight night, the Biscuits (45-47/10-12) put the potential tying run on the bases in the ninth inning before losing to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (40-52/9-13) 3-1 Friday night at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium.
After a walk and a single off Shane Dyer (9) in the ninth inning, the Biscuits had runners on first and second with only one out when trailing 3-1. Jake Hager came to the plate and pulled a ground ball up the third-baseline. Seth Mejias-Brean was playing on the line. He scooped up the baseball, stepped on third and fired across the diamond to end the game on a 5-3 double-play. It was the third-straight inning the Biscuits' ended their frame with a twin-killing.
The Biscuits finished with seven hits and the Wahoos walked seven but the only run the Biscuits scored was in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly from Kes Carter to make it a 2-1 game. The Biscuits stranded ten on the bases and went 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position.
The Wahoos jumped on Albert Suarez (1-1) early with a run in the first and a solo shot by Travis Mattair in the second inning. Suarez would later leave the bases loaded in the sixth inning, before Matt Lollis entered, retired the first two hitters, then allowed an RBI-single from Juan Duran to give the Wahoos a 3-1 lead.
The Biscuits have now lost four-straight to Pensacola dating back to the series in Montgomery at the start of June.
The middle-game of the series is Saturday night at 6:35. LH Grayson Garvin will be on the hill for the Biscuits, while the Wahoos will have RH Tim Adleman on the mound.
