Montgomery Biscuits News Release

KODAK, Tenn. - The Biscuits (59-58, 22-25) rallied back from a 10-5 deficit to tie the game at the ninth before falling 11-10 to the Tennessee Smokies (61-54, 27-19) due to a walk-off single from Javier Baez Friday night at Smokies Park.

Juan Sandoval (3-3) entered the ninth inning with the game tied at ten. After two singles and a walk, Baez came to the plate with the bases loaded and no outs. The infield was drawn in when Baez hit a broken-bat-groundball through the middle to give the Smokies the win.

Biscuits trailed 10-5 after the fifth inning. Mayo Acosta drove in a run in the sixth with a sacrifice fly then drove in two more runs with a single in the eighth inning to make it a 10-8 game.

In the ninth inning, Mikie Mahtook drove in his second run of the night to make it a one-run game, followed by an RBI-single from Cameron Seitzer to tie the game at ten.

Montgomery's office started early. Curt Casali - in his first game as the cleanup hitter - drilled a three-run blast in the first inning. Seitzer followed with a solo shot to go back-to-back with Casali and give the Biscuits a 4-0 lead.

The middle-game of the series is Saturday at 5:15 PM. The Biscuits will have RHP Jake Thompson on the hill while the Smokies will send RHP Nick Struck to the mound.
