
Biscuits Defeat M-Braves 7-5

PEARL, Mis. - The Biscuits (17-23) were in full throttle as they defeated the Mississippi Braves (23-24) 7-5 Wednesday night at Trustmark Stadium.
Austin Shenton started the night off in the best way with a solo home run to center for the Biscuits to go up in the second inning. Later in the fourth inning, Erik Ostberg singled on a line drive to score three for the Biscuits to go up 4-0 in the top of the fourth inning.
In the fourth inning, Blake Hunt extended the Biscuit lead to five after an RBI-single that advanced him to second and scored Ostberg after a throwing error by M-Braves Jefrey Ramos. Later in the inning, Tyler Frank scored after another throwing error by Yariel Gonzalez for Montgomery to go up 6-0.
The M-Braves were able to get on board thanks to a pair of solo home runs from CJ Alexander in the fourth and Drew Lugbauer in the seventh that made it 6-2.
In the bottom of the eighth, the M-Braves created more momentum with another solo home run from Gonzalez for the lead to be cut to three. Moments later. Hendrik Clementine smacked an RBI-double that made it 6-5.
In the top of the ninth, the Biscuits found themselves in another close one as they tried to maintain control and the lead. Grant Witherspoon was able to score after another throwing error by Mississippi that extended the Biscuit lead to 7-5.
In the bottom of the ninth, Biscuits reliever Justin Sterner came in to secure the win and the save for the Biscuits as they moved to two-consecutive wins and a 2-0 lead in the series. Montgomery will look to continue their winning ways tomorrow when RHP John Doxakis (0-0, 16.20) faces RHP Darius Vines (3-2, 4.27) at 6:35 PM CT.
