Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (1-0/35-34) came charging out of the gates to begin the second-half of the season, walloping the Chattanooga Lookouts (0-1/43-26) 12-7 on a busy Thursday night at Riverwalk Stadium.
Chattanooga came out swinging to start the first inning with Miguel Sano flexing his power and sending an opposite field two-run bomb over the wall in right-centerfield. The Lookouts would follow that up with two more runs in the top of the second to lead 4-0 early on.
But the Biscuits circled the wagons in the bottom half, at one point stringing together four straight RBIs in four consecutive at bats to tie the game at four. A throwing error by Lookouts shortstop Jorge Polanco with the bases loaded handed Montgomery a 6-4 lead at the end of the second.
The real story tonight though was 19-year-old Biscuits first baseman Jake Bauers who made his Double-A debut by going three-for-five with an RBI-single and a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth that nailed the flagpole in right field.
Ryne Stanek (3-1) allowed four runs through five innings but benefited from the run support earning his third victory of the season. Southpaw David Hurlbut picked up the loss (3-3).
Montgomery will look to make it two in a row on Friday night when they send Austin Pruitt (4-4) to tango with Alex Wimmers (5-1) at 7:05 PM.
