
Godfrey promoted to Mississippi, Rodriguez activated

PEARL, MS -- Mississippi Braves catcher Steve Rodriguez has been activated off the disabled list. Outfielder Sean Godfrey has been promoted to Double-A Mississippi from High-A Carolina, and infielder Seth Loman has been released from the Atlanta Braves organization.
Rodriguez, 25, was hitting .186 in 23 games at Double-A Mississippi when placed on the DL with a back strain June 8. Last season, he combined to hit .263 with 12 doubles, two triples and 15 RBI in 48 games between High-A Visalia and Double-A Mobile. Rodriguez was originally selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 15th round of the 2011 draft out of UCLA. He was selected by the Braves in the Rule 5 Draft on December 11, 2014.
Godfrey, 23, was hitting .304 with 18 extra-base hits and 22 RBI through 62 games with the Mudcats. He was 10-for-16 in stolen base attempts. In 22 games during the month of June, Godfrey was hitting .337 with a .472 slugging percentage. A native of Indiana, the center fielder was selected by the Braves in the 22nd round of the 2014 draft out of Ball State University where he was also named 2014 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year.
Loman, 29, had a .199 batting average with six doubles, four homers and 22 RBI through 55 games with the M-Braves. He spent the entire 2014 campaign at Double-A Mississippi, posting a batting average of .261 in 90 contests. He also tied Jeff Francoeur's record from 2005, driving in a run in eight consecutive games June 21-28, 2014. Loman was originally selected by the Angels in the 47th round of the 2005 draft but was signed by the Braves as a free agent on November 7, 2013.
The Mississippi roster has 24 active players, 1 ML rehab and 1 suspended.
