BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Squadron, NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, swept the season series with the Santa Cruz Warriors in a 126-124 Thursday night overtime thriller at Legacy Arena at the BJCC.

The contest marked the first overtime game in Squadron history. After regulation ended with the score knotted at 119, Birmingham (8-19) used a Kelan Martin triple, a James Kelly, Sr. putback dunk and a Kelly reverse layup to reach the target score of 126.

Santa Cruz (12-13) led by as many as 27 in the first half before the Squadron cut its deficit to 11 going into the fourth quarter. A Kelly dunk with just under a minute to play pulled Birmingham to within one before Malcolm Hill gave the Squadron a two-point advantage with a fadeaway three with 44 seconds to go.

Kelan Martin's 30-piece led the way for Birmingham in the scoring column, while two-way guard and fellow starter Dereon Seabron scored 19 and pulled in 13 rebounds. Seabron paced Birmingham with seven assists as well.

Santa Cruz's Moses Moody notched 27 points on the night and was supported by Jerome Robinson's 16. The Warriors' rebounding leader was Jayce Johnson with 14 off the bench.

Birmingham hits the floor for its next contest on Monday as the team travels to Des Moines to take on the Iowa Wolves. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and the game can be seen on My68 WABM or NBAGLeague.com.
