Prospect News & Notes

RHP Carson Fulmer was dealt his third loss of the season last night, eclipsing his total losses from his senior season at Vanderbilt (14-2). Fulmer's first three professional decisions have all been losses, but the 22-year-old posted his best outing of the season yesterday, pitching five solid innings and walking just two while recording five strikeouts.

Fulmer will take to the mound in Chattanooga and is projected to return to the hill at Regions Field April 29th against Pensacola, barring any changes to the Barons rotation.

Among the White Sox top prospects assigned to Birmingham, Adam Engel has begun his first AA season with a .393 OBP and seven stolen bases from atop the Barons lineup. Shortstop Eddy Alvarez battled flu-like symptoms throughout the first series, but has recovered to record a .342 OBP while hitting second in Birmingham's order, adding four runs and a pair of stolen bases in seven games thus far.

Trey Michalczewski has five hits in his last four games with three walks and four RBIs in that stretch, while Jake Peter recorded five multi-hit games in his first six games while registering starts at first base, left field, and now third base already this season.

On the mound, prospects Tyler Danish and Brandon Brennan have each entered the win column, with LHP Jordan Guerrero seeking his first AA victory tonight.

Deeper in the Lineup

Josh Richmond's redemption has gotten off to a strong start, with the Barons outfielder having posted a .290 batting average in nine games thus far after missing the entire 2015 season due to injury. A leader on the field and in the clubhouse, the Louisville product also has three extra base hits, three walks, and five runs on the young season.

Also contributing out of the gate is Marcus Lemon, who rejoins the Barons for his second season in Birmingham. The son of former Major Leaguer Chet Lemon, Marcus posted Birmingham's first four-hit game of the season April 11th at Jacksonville and has played a variety of different roles already, ranging from playing shortstop and hitting second to starting games in left field and hitting out of the nine spot in manager Ryan Newman's lineup.

Revolving Door Roster

RHP Michael Ynoa was called up to the AAA Charlotte Knights late last week. Following a brief promotion to the Chicago White Sox, Ynoa rejoined the Barons in Jacksonville and looked set to travel to Tennessee before being reassigned late Friday night.

Additionally, RHP Nolan Sanburn and RHP James Dykstra recently joined the Barons bullpen from the Winston-Salem Dash, replacing spots occupied by the aforementioned Ynoa and the injured Kyle Hansen. Illness also forced the White Sox to assign catcher Sean O'Connell from Extended Spring Training to the Barons, while injury allowed the dinged up Nicky Delmonico to seamlessly return to the active roster after the White Sox placed Courtney Hawkins on the DL in a corresponding move.
