MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Aramis Ademan ripped a go-ahead, two-run single in the seventh inning Sunday to drive the Myrtle Beach Pelicans to a 4-3 win over the Lynchburg Hillcats from TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.
With the game knotted at 2-2, the Pelicans (49-58, 15-22) collected back-to-back singles from Kevonte Mitchell and D.J. Wilson , who went 3-for-4, off of Hillcats (49-55, 20-17) starter Eli Morgan (6-4). Ademan then smacked the two-run single to put the Birds in front 4-2.
In the ninth, the Hillcats threatened, plating a run on an RBI single from Jodd Carter, but Jose Paulino locked down his third save on the season.
Tyler Peyton (3-3) earned the win for the Birds, throwing 2.2 innings out of the bullpen. Justin Steele pitched well in his first start of the season for Myrtle Beach. He tossed five innings while allowing just one unearned run.
In the bottom of the first inning, Jhonny Pereda plated Wilson with a sacrifice fly for the game's first run.
The Hillcats tied the game in the second when Connor Capel scored on a throwing error following a stolen base.
Wladimir Galindo scored on a wild pitch in the fifth to give the Birds a 2-1 lead beofre the Hillcats tied it again with a sacrifice fly from Alexis Pantoja in the seventh.
In the win, both Pereda and Jared Young extended their on-base streaks to 20 games each. The streaks tie Andruw Monasterio , who had his from June 6-28, for the longest of the year for the Birds.
