The Chicago Cubs have announced the following roster moves affecting the Myrtle Beach Pelicans:

-LHP Justin Steele has been assigned to Myrtle Beach from Rookie-level Mesa. He will wear No. 21.

Steele will start Sunday's series finale against Lynchburg. The Lucedale, Miss., native pitched with Myrtle Beach last season, going 6-7 with a 2.92 ERA over 20 starts that covered 98.2 innings. However, he departed from his August 1 outing at Frederick and underwent Tommy John Surgery three weeks later. Steele made five rehab starts this year with Rookie-level Mesa, where he pitched to a 1.47 ERA thanks to 27 strikeouts against four walks and nine hits allowed in 18.1 innings. Steele was originally drafted in the fifth round of the 2014 draft out of George County High School in Mississippi.

The Pelicans' roster sits at 25 active players, with five players on the disabled list.
