
'Birds rally past RedHawks, 3-2

Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis rallied in the sixth inning for three runs on their way to a 3-2 win and second straight victory over Oklahoma.
The Redbirds sent nine men to the plate in a decisive sixth inning. Edgar Gonzalez started the rally with a walk and scored on Ryan Ludwick's RBI-single. Tagg Bozied reached on an error by RedHawks third baseman Jose Morban that also scored John Rodriguez to tie the game at 2-2. One batter later Nick Stavinoha singled in Ludwick to put the âBirds ahead for good. Rodriguez led the way for Memphis with a pair of hits, including his second double of the year. Three RedHawks had two hits each, including Marlon Byrd who had the team's lone RBI.
Reliever Mike Sillman picked up his first Triple-A win with one inning of work out of the bullpen. Kelvin Jimenez tossed two critical innings and shutdown an Oklahoma rally in the eighth inning with back-to-back strikeouts. Chris Narveson started for Memphis and allowed two runs on four hits in five innings. Alfredo Simon took the loss after allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits in 5.1 innings.
The win puts the Redbirds over .500 for the first time since August 16, 2005 when they were 62-61.
Memphis and Oklahoma will conclude their four-game series tomorrow afternoon. Matt Ginter will twirl for the Redbirds and the RedHawks will send Josh Rupe to the hill. Game time is scheduled for 2:10 p.m.
