
'Birds Fall 7-4

Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
(ABERDEEN, MD) - With last night's power outage and 4-1 victory behind them, the âBirds looked to close out their 4-game series against Hudson Valley on a good note but fell 7-4.
The âBirds got things started early in the second inning, jumping to a 3-0 lead. Justin Dalles scored the first run of the game coming home from third on a wild pitch by Devin Fuller. Mike Mooney stepped up to plate and singled in Brain Conley to extend the âBirds' lead. Ty Kelly worked the count and drew a walk with the bases loaded to score the âBirds' final run of the inning.
In the third inning, a familiar face came into score for Aberdeen; Dalles scored on a Garabez Rosa single after he reached base on an error to put the âBirds up 4-0.
Hudson Valley tallied their first run of the game in the fourth inning via Tyler Bortnick off an Eligio Sonoqui ground out.
The Renegades struck again in the fourth, scoring two runs to pull closer at 4-3.
Hudson Valley tied the game 4-4 in the sixth inning after Bortnick hit a double to score Dustin Biell.
The Renegades picked up yet another run in the seventh as Sonoqui singled to score Bortnick to give them the lead at 5-4. The score marked the fifth unanswered run the Renegades scored since the IronBirds commanded the game at 4-0.
In the eighth inning, the Renegades extended their lead on a Biell triple that scored D.J. Jones. Later in the eighth, Elias Otero hit double to score Mark Thomas to put the Renegades up 7-4.
The âBirds were unable to rally back in the ninth and fell 7-4.
Allen went 4.2 innings, allowed three runs on six hits along with three strikeouts and one walk, however not earning a decision in the contest. Jake Smith took home the loss.
Offensively, the âBirds were on a roll early on but fell off after leading 4-0 in the third inning. Dalles extended his hitting streak to four games in this contest, going 1-4 with two runs to lead the way offensively for the "Birds.
The âBirds will open up a 2-game series versus Staten Island tomorrow; the game is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. Pat Kantakevich (2-2) will take the mound for Aberdeen.
