Phillies top prospect Brown joins Reading
Reading, PA - The Philadelphia Phillies have promoted right fielder Dominic Brown from the Clearwater Threshers of the Class-A Florida State League to the Reading Phillies in the Double-A Eastern League. Brown entered the season ranked as the top prospect in the Phillies Minor League system by Baseball America. Brown will join the R-Phils in Erie where the R-Phils are in the midst of a three-game series between two teams battling for a playoff spot. Also joining the R-Phils from Clearwater is RHP Mike Cisco. Cisco was ranked the Phillies 29th best prospect by Baseball America heading into 2009.
Brown was hitting .303 (72-238) in 66 games at Clearwater with 41 R, 12 2B, 3 3B, 11 HR, 44 RBI and 15 BB. The 6'5", 200 lb. left-handed hitter owned a .386 OBP, .517 SLG and .903 OPS.
Despite not playing for Clearwater from June 9 - July 16 because of a broken finger, the 21-year old ranked 6th in the FSL in hitting, 1st in slugging%, 4th in OBP and 1st in OPS. His nine outfield assists were tied for 5th in the league. The Phillies selected Brown in the 20th round of the 2006 first year player draft. Considered a top-tier high school talent, Brown lasted until the 20th round because of a commitment to play wide receiver for the University of Miami.
The 5'11", 200 lb. Cisco, just a second-year pro, was 7-3 with a 3.31 ERA in 15 games, 14 of them starts. In 73.1 IP he's allowed 69 hits, 32 R, 27 ER, 9 HR, 15 BB and struck out 51. The grandson of former Philadelphia Phillies pitching coach Galen Cisco, Mike was selected in the 36th round of the 2008 draft out of the University of South Carolina.

They are: Brown (#1), RHP Kyle Drabek (#5), OF Michael Taylor (#6), LHP Antonio Bastardo (#11), RHP Vance Worley (#16), RHP Mike Stutes (#17), LHP Joe Savery (#20), OF Quintin Berry (#25), RHP Pat Overholt (#26), LHP Sergio Escalona (#27) and Cisco (#29).
