
'Birds Drop late to Intimidators, 6-5

The Intimidators jumped out to the early lead after back -to- back hits to lead off the top of the first and Josh Hansen delivered a sacrifice fly scoring Chris Getz, 1-0. In the bottom of the second inning Matt Houston drove a two RBI single up the middle to take the lead. The âBirds added two more runs in the third on the 2 RBI single from Arturo Rivas making it 4-1, Delmarva. The Intimidators added two in the top of the fourth to cut the âBirds lead to one. Kannapolis tied the game in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Davis Cook. In the eighth the I's scored two more against reliever Casey Cahill to take a 6-4 lead off an Getz's RBI single and another sacrifice fly by Hansen. The Shorebirds battled back with one in the ninth but fell short. Delmarva was held hitless in innings four through eight.
Note: With a Hickory loss at Hagerstown the Shorebirds maintain their four game lead in the SAL Northern division. Kannapolis now leads the southern division by a full game with a rainout for Augusta.
