'Birds Drop 1st Half Finale, 'Claws Take Slugfest, 13-8

Salisbury, Md.- The Lakewood BlueClaws used three big innings in route to a 13-8 win over the Delmarva Shorebirds Sunday afternoon on the final day of the first half of the season at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

The Shorebirds jumped on Lakewood starter Chris Kissock scoring four runs in the first frame but the BlueClaws returned the favor against Delmarva starter Nate Nery scoring five in the third inning. Delmarva answered back to retake the lead with two runs in the bottom of the frame but the 'Claws scored three in the fifth and five in the seventh to finish of the 'Birds.

Tyler Henson was 4-5 for Delmarva and had two RBI. Anthony Miller had two hits as well and Matt Tucker drove in three without a base hit. The Shorebirds finish the first half 38-31 and begins the second half Thursday at Perdue Stadium against the Hagerstown Suns, first pitch set for 7:05pm.
