CHARLESTON- Charleston RiverDogs starting pitcher Lance Pendleton has been added to the South Atlantic League (SAL) Southern Division All-Star team, the league office announced Sunday. The 2008 SAL All-Star Game will take place Tuesday, June 17th at NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro, NC, home of the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

With the addition of Pendleton to the Southern Division squad, Charleston now boasts six players in addition to manager Torre Tyson who will be participating in Tuesday's game. Catcher Jesus Montero, second baseman Justin Snyder, outfielder Abraham Almonte and pitchers Jason Stephens and Jonathan Ortiz will also be headed to Greensboro from Charleston.

Only the Asheville Tourists (seven players and manager Joe Mikulik) will send more participants to the mid-summer classic.

Pendleton, who began the season in the bullpen, has found his niche in the starting rotation and has become the RiverDogs' ace hurler. The former 4th round selection by the Yankees in the 2005 draft boasts a 6-2 record and a team-low 1.89 ERA, which also ranks third in the entire circuit.

Pendleton has not allowed an earned run in seven of his last eight starts. The 6'3" right-hander has allowed only three earned runs in his last 45.1 innings. In his first full season back from Tommy John surgery, the Kingwood, Tex. native has allowed 18 runs (13 earned) on 49 hits in 62.0 innings of work, while walking just 18 batters and fanning 64, which is tied for second on the RiverDogs' staff.
