'Birds Bounce Back, Win 3-1

(ABERDEEN, MD) - After last night's delayed 7-inning loss, the IronBirds bounced back and beat the Renegades 3-1.

Hudson Valley got on the board first in the second inning via a Mayobanex Acosta double that scored Brett Nommensen after he walked.

Levi Carolus tied the game 1-1 in the fourth inning after bringing Ty Kelly home on a double of his own.

The ‘Birds added a pair of runs in the fifth inning to pull away to a 3-1 lead over the Renegades. Justin Dalles doubled to lead off the inning and scored on a single by Arthur Bonevacia. T.J. Baxter hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Mike Gioioso for the second run of inning.

Carolus was the top offensive performer, going 2-4, a double and a RBI. Bonevacia also had a solid performance, going 2-3 with a RBI.

Kenny Moreland (5-1, 0.80 ERA) turned in another strong performance for the IronBirds. Moreland went 6.0 strong innings, allowing only one run on four hits, while striking out four and walking two. Moreland received the win and improves to 6-1 with a 0.88 ERA on the year.

Hudson Valley's Jason McEachern (0-2, 2.61 ERA) went 4.0 innings, allowed one run on three hits and struck out six. McEachern did not receive a decision in the game. Angel Chapa received the loss pitching 1.0 inning of relief and allowing two runs on three hits.

The ‘Birds will continue their 4-game series versus the Renegades tomorrow. The game is scheduled for 7:05 as the ‘Birds' Nick Haughian and Kevin Chavez for the Renegades match up.
